
Officer Rodney Kidd joined the Simpsonville Police Department in January, 2008. He began his career of law enforcement in 1984 with the Shelbyville Police Department and attained the rank of Sergeant. Officer Kidd transferred to the Louisville Police Department in 1989 and worked the 4th Police District. He was assigned to the Homicide Unit in 1994, and also to the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit. Officer Kidd's next assignment was with Internal Affairs in 1999 and the Mounted Patrol Unit in 2000.
Promoted to Sergeant in 2001, Officer Kidd became the assistant commander to the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit and transferred to the 3rd Louisville Police District where he supervised the platoon. Later, he was assigned to the Flex/Bike and Halo Platoon. Officer Kidd completed his Louisville career with an assignment to the Special Operations Unit in 2005 where he commanded the River Patrol until his retirement in 2007.
