Many times our office is the first contact made with individuals wishing to do business, live, or work in our community and it is my responsibility to make sure we project a citizen friendly and professional atmosphere.
Debbie has been employed with the City of Simpsonville since 2000. She graduated from Kentucky Municipal Clerk’s Institute and became a Certified Kentucky Municipal Clerk (CKMC) in 2003. She was awarded the International Certified Municipal Clerk’s Certification (CMC) designation in 2004 and awarded the Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) in May of 2009, becoming the 9th active Kentucky Clerk to receive this designation. Currently Debbie is pursuing her Kentucky Master Municipal Clerk certification (KMMC) designation. Debbie currently serving a two year term as the Kentucky Municipal Clerk’s Association Past President. Debbie is also serving on the Education committee & Legislative Committee. Along with the role provided to the city, Debbie serves on the Kentucky League of Cities Executive Board of Directors, Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and on the Insurance Premium Tax Legislative Sub-Committee.
Among Debbie’s daily routines are financial responsibilities such as budgeting, accounts receivables/payables, payroll, IRS reporting, human resource management, working to resolve citizen concerns, and legal publications. This position also deals with policy and procedure creation and implementation, safe keeping of all legal city documents such as deeds, minutes, ordinances, contracts, and performing research on legal issues.
